Clear Aligners (SureSmile) in Sandy Springs, GA

Clear, removable aligners that straighten teeth without announcing themselves.

Aura Dental Studio offers SureSmile clear aligners, a discreet and convenient way to straighten your teeth without traditional braces.

What SureSmile is

SureSmile uses a series of custom-made clear aligners to move your teeth gradually into position. The aligners are virtually invisible, which is why they appeal to adults and teens who would rather not spend a year in brackets and wires.

Benefits

Discreet. The aligners are nearly invisible; most people will not notice them.

Comfortable and removable. Smooth plastic reduces irritation to gums and cheeks, and the aligners come out for eating, brushing, and flossing.

Convenient. Fewer office visits than traditional braces.

Effective. Clear aligners treat crowding, gaps, overbites, underbites, and crossbites.

The treatment process

  • Consultation. Dr. Choy evaluates your dental health, discusses your goals, and determines whether clear aligners are right for you. Using 3D imaging, she maps the precise movements of your teeth.
  • Custom aligners. A series of aligners is made for your teeth. Each set is worn for about two weeks.
  • Progress monitoring. Regular check-ups confirm the plan is on track; you collect new aligners and any adjustments are made.
  • Retention. After the final aligner you receive retainers, which keep the teeth from drifting back.

Common questions

How long does treatment take?

Most cases take 6 to 12 months. Where you land in that range depends on how far the teeth have to move: minor crowding or a relapse after old braces sits at the short end, a more complex case at the long one. You will be given an estimate at the consultation, based on a scan of your own teeth rather than an average.

How many hours a day do I have to wear them?

Around 20 to 22 hours, which in practice means everything except eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing. This is the part that decides whether treatment finishes on schedule. Aligners only move teeth while they are in.

Do aligners work for everyone?

They handle crowding, spacing, and many bite problems very well. Some cases, particularly severe bite discrepancies or teeth that need substantial rotation, are better treated with fixed braces or need a specialist. We will tell you honestly if aligners are not the right tool for your case.

Will I need a retainer afterwards?

Yes, and this is not optional. Teeth move back towards where they started for the rest of your life, and a retainer is the only thing that prevents it. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you a result that will not last.

Are there any dietary restrictions?

None, and that is the practical advantage over fixed braces. The aligners come out to eat, so nothing is off the menu. Take them out for anything other than water, and brush before putting them back in.
