Porcelain Veneers in Sandy Springs, GA
Thin, custom shells that change color, shape, and proportion at once — the most controlled cosmetic result available.
Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells that cover the front surface of your teeth. They are the cosmetic treatment with the most control over the final result, because color, shape, length, and proportion are all decided before anything is bonded.
What they correct
- Discolored or stained teeth — including staining from coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, or medication.
- Chipped or broken teeth — minor chips and cracks are restored.
- Misaligned or uneven teeth — slight misalignments become a uniform, symmetrical line.
- Gaps between teeth — small spaces close.
- Worn-down teeth — length and shape are rebuilt.
Benefits
Natural appearance. Porcelain mimics the way natural enamel handles light, which is what makes the result read as a tooth rather than a facing.
Durable and stain-resistant. High-quality porcelain resists the staining that affects natural enamel and composite resin.
Customizable. Each veneer is made to match the shape, size, and color decided for your smile.
Minimally invasive. Veneers preserve more natural tooth structure than crowns.
The process
- Consultation. Dr. Choy evaluates your dental health, discusses your goals, and explains what veneers can and cannot achieve.
- Preparation. A small amount of enamel is removed from the front surface so the veneers sit flush. Impressions are taken.
- Temporary veneers. These protect the prepared teeth and give you a preview of the new smile.
- Placement. Dr. Choy bonds the final veneers with a strong adhesive, adjusts the fit, and cures the adhesive with a special light.
Common questions
Veneers, bonding, or crowns: which do I need?
Bonding shapes composite resin directly onto the tooth in one visit and is the least expensive and least permanent option, best for a chip or a small gap. Veneers are custom porcelain shells that change colour and shape together across several teeth, and they require removing a thin layer of enamel. A crown covers the whole tooth and is a restorative treatment for a tooth that is damaged or heavily filled, not a cosmetic one. Which is right depends on how much has to change and how sound the tooth is underneath.
Is getting veneers reversible?
No. Preparing a tooth for a veneer removes a thin layer of enamel, and enamel does not grow back, so from that point the tooth will always need to be covered by something. That is the single most important thing to understand before starting, and it is why the consultation matters more than the appointment.
How many veneers will I need?
It depends on how far your smile line extends when you talk and laugh, which is usually somewhere between six and ten teeth on the upper arch. Doing fewer is possible but the colour has to blend with the teeth beside them, which limits how much lighter you can go. We work this out together at the consultation.
How do I look after them?
Brush and floss exactly as you would natural teeth, and keep your regular cleanings. Porcelain does not stain, but the natural tooth at the margin still can, and the gum health around the veneer is what determines how good they look in ten years. If you grind your teeth you will need a nightguard, otherwise you will chip them.
How long do veneers last?
With proper care, ten to fifteen years or longer. Regular check-ups and good hygiene are what decide it, because what usually ends a veneer is decay or gum recession at the margin rather than the porcelain failing.
Does the procedure hurt?
The preparation is minimally invasive and local anaesthetic is used, so the appointment itself should not be painful. Teeth are often sensitive to hot and cold for a few days while temporaries are on, which settles once the final veneers are bonded.
